  2. It is a digital tool that allows users to quickly create content and share it with the public. The content includes videos, pictures, audio, text, any type of graphics, documents(in any format) e.t.c

THE NEGATIVE ASPECTS OF SOCIAL MEDIA (DISADVANTAGES)

                             TABLE OF CONTENTS

There are nearly uncountable disadvantages of using social media here I will only discuss the main points which affect humans much.

     1: LONELINESS & ISOLATION

If you use social media a lot, it means you are addicted to it and if someone gets addicted to social media, he will feel lonely and will want to be isolated from people.

The reason behind the desire for loneliness and isolation is that when a person uses social media or mobile phones, he stays away from his physical environment and family members, friends, gatherings, etc.

After a couple of days, he starts to hate talking to his family or friends, he begins to like to chat or scroll on the media most of the time.

    2: DEPRESSION & ANXIETY

Depression is a common mental illness. It is the leading cause of disability worldwide. Depression can lead to suicide. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more women than men suffer from depression. About 280 million people worldwide suffer from depression. It is surprising.

Every year, more than 700,000 people die from suicide. Suicide is the fourth leading cause of death among 15-29-year-olds. Do you know the reason for suicide? The real reason for suicide is social media it leads the person to suicide.

And if I talk about Anxiety, it is the feeling of restlessness and tension you feel tired and uncomfortable the reason is also SOCIAL MEDIA. After using access to media your time passes and you are not aware of it but after leaving social media you will feel that your body's energy is low, and you need some sleep or rest.

3: BEING DISTRACTED FROM SCHOOL OR WORK

As we all know these days the world is full of busyness and we all have to do our daily work in offices or schools, colleges and universities every day because of our hard work something new invents or discover. But when the smartphone came or social media interfered with our lives we were completely distracted from our routines.

We are constantly using social media in schools or colleges during office hours. Students are using social media instead of studying and understanding.

4: HAVING NO TIME FOR SELF-REFLECTION

We have no time to see our conditions right now. Social media has changed the living styles we have become hollow from the inside and we are unaware of our health.

5: ENGAGING IN RISKY BEHAVIORS TO BECOME FAMOUS

Our community is engaged in dangerous activities and practices just to get likes and views. I have seen a lot of videos on Social Media like on Tiktok or Snapchat that young people are involved in attitudes that can lead to death or dangerous accidents and fractures.

Like by shooting their selfie videos or pics on edge of a mountain moreover by jumping from the top of the mountain into the river without any training or guidance.

6: THE IMPACT OF SOCIAL MEDIA ON TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

By using too much social media there is a chance of losing thinking power because if one uses social media he is only doing one-way communication he only sees or listens but does not speak or think. That's why his creative and development power slowly decreases. It directly affects the brainpower his mind becomes dull and lazy instead of sharp and quick.

   7: LACK OF PRIVACY

Here the use of Social Media is a little bit different because before this I have discussed the too much use of social media and its bad effects on humans physically and mentally but now if one uses Social media only once then also there are some bad effects.

If one uses social media and also saved his pictures which may be personal and private but when he becomes public through social media it may be chances of some data to accidentally uploaded on any platform which may be a private one.

Also, some third-party apps are also available on market, after downloading on a smartphone or computer requires access to our media like gallery, camera, location, etc it shows allow access option and about 90% of people allow them without reading the above lines by doing so they have to lose their important data or in some cases, their phone is completely hacked and their data is sold in the market or that data is used to blackmail them.

   8: CYBERBULLYING

The word CYBERBULLYING means physical or emotional harm to the student or damage to the student's property or any person through the internet. Some people blackmail internet users by getting their data like private pictures, family pics, etc.

After getting access to their data they blackmail them and ask them not to tell anyone otherwise this or that will happen. The most reported cases of cyberbullying are on females of all types of ages but most of them are students and especially young girls.

   9: SOCIAL MEDIA IS ADDICTING

The majority of people are addicted to Social media. This means that they always scroll through Social media for no reason they only waste their time. But also there is the number of people who always use Social media during office or school work or meetings. This habit only develops when a person is addicted to Social media when he isn't able to get access to Social media he gets Irritable.

   10:  SUICIDE

Suicide remains among the leading causes of death of children under age 14. There are many reasons for the suicide of people, especially children or teenagers. The reason I have noticed is that some children or teenagers are so addicted to social media that it disrupts their studies and they waste their time in useless scrolling instead of playing outside or getting involved in the family.

Parents ask them to leave social media or take a break for a few weeks or months, but social media addiction causes children to be rude to their parents, causing their children to become stressed over time and they get involved in bad activities like drugs get rid of stress. After the time they have to get suicide due to tired of life.

   11: SELF-ESTEEM

If you take a look at the popular Instagram accounts, you will find incredibly beautiful people wearing expensive clothes on their body size. It lets you know how different you look from these pictures. In this way, our self-confidence decreases and we cannot run in the race of life.

  12: LOSS OF SLEEP

Humans used to spend their evenings in darkness but now we are surrounded by artificial lights day and night. Research has shown that it can decrease the production of a hormone called (melatonin) in the body, which provides comfortable sleep - and the blue light emitted from the screens of smartphones and laptops is considered the worst criminal/culprit.

  13: DISTRACTS FROM LIFE GOALS

I am not saying that Social media is dangerous but excessive use of Social media could be dangerous it distracts us from the aims which we have set for our future. Especially Students are under this. Instead of setting their next day goals and aims for future life they are more interested to think about pictures and videos which they have to post in the coming day. And these pictures are not more than their selfies or useless quotes of low-level poets.

  14: IT DAMAGES EYESIGHT

Excessive use of social media causes health problems. It damages eyesight and makes people lazy and slow.

 15: DECREASES FACE-to-FACE COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Relying on a computer can impair a person's ability to communicate face-to-face, which makes it strange and unusual to hear something and to respond to a message with a thought-provoking message. Depends on the keyboard to deliver.

 SUMMARY

We must ensure the effective use of social media. If we use it wisely, we will enjoy the real

benefits. But if we use it recklessly, we will suffer the consequences. We just need to overcome the negative side of social media. We should only use it to meet our needs. But we must make a conscious effort to reduce our presence on social media. The only right choice we can make is to limit our online engagement to a maximum.

Social media is not a problem in itself. It's a way for people to use real communication and personalization. "Friends" on social media can't be friends, and they can be strangers.
